Njivice is founded 1934th as a private hotel of Stražičić family , moved from Govedari. As such they are representing the beginning of tourism in general on the island of Mljet.

Soon after the construction of a hotel lake has become popular within a people from all over the world who wanted to relax in pure and unspoiled nature.
